Excellent! I'd add 'bed space,' as in the ubiquitous ads on flyers pasted up near bus stands, which offer the use of a bed in a shared room for a particular shift - directed at poor labourers who are often crammed five to a room.

Did you discover the institution of Ladies' Night in Dubai bars yet? Essentially for three or four days of the week you can get four, count 'em, four free (albeit slightly dilute) drinks just for having a hoo-hah, whether you're with a man or not. Of course, as women are in short supply in Dubai, lots of leering red-faced 'expat' men show up for ladies night hoping to get a little. Often you see some really glammed up women at those bars who seem kinda...professional.

Aaa, the Gulf, eternal and unchanging. In Kuwait during the last golden days of the 80s everyone spoke nervously of the 'Takweet' or 'Kuwaitization' that had begun with the sharp drop in oil prices in the early 80s and the Souk al-Manakh stock market crash of 1982, and which gathered momentum as the Iraq-Iran war dragged on and almost everybody bar the 'real Kuwaitis' (there were very many strata of Kuwaiti citizenship, including the Bidun) came under suspicion from the ruling Sabah family. But the Dubai dynamic is different: even fewer 'locals', but also a smaller dependence on oil as a direct source of largesse.

I would add "runner" as in "doing a runner" to the list since this is pretty common. "Absconding" is the word you see in papers, but among the expats it's more informal.

As you stated, it's clear that many people were misleading some people, and from the very beginning.

dubai rent

Nice information provided. Thanks for the help and I am really agreed that especially Bachelors out there have to face great difficulties regarding renting accommodation and Dubai authorities must take some steps in solving their problems.

Dubai Real Estate

Very useful information. You have explained data about Dubai very precisely. I am agreed that bachelors from other countries face some real problems regarding residence over there and also it's strange to know that alcohol is allowed to use only in hotels.

(Reuters) - Polygamist leader Warren Jeffs interrupted his Texas child sexual assault trial on Friday, shouting that his religious rights were being violated and warning the court it was stomping on "sacred ground".
