Religion in southern China

Img_1086

My grandparents lived in Nanping in Fujian province from 1922 to 1926. My mother was born there. I’ve visited the city twice now. I’ve written a fairly extensive piece on Christianity in China based on what has happened to that city since Methodist missionaries first arrived there. Click here to read it. I’ve also written a second story on the experiences of my grandparents based on letters that are now archived at Yale University. Click here to read that story. Check out the slide show that goes with the stories; it includes some vintage photos.
