Will the phone call from the Pentagon to the Chinese Ministry of Defense be a 900 number call?

Wonder what the billing rate will be.

They've established a hotline, but then there's the matter of using the thing...

Might be just something symbolic, but still a positive step.

Interesting to see that General Cao Gangchuan is still acting as the Defence Minister. He is no longer part of the Central Military Committee or the Party's Central Committee.

The CCP or PLA have agreed to such a hot line before, and the Russians have urged Beijing to put one into place. DC and Moscow did make use of it a few times.

But what usually happens is that either the CCP or PLA will agree, then the other will disagree.

Remember, the CCP didn't know about the ASAT test until the US ambassador brought it up.
