Throughout the world, people use humor to deal with trying times. Pakistan is no different.
I was in a lawyer’s office this morning, and the conversation turned to the difficult situation in the country, where blackouts are common, and shortages of flour and cooking oil have people grumbling about President Pervez Musharraf, the U.S.-backed president who is deeply unpopular.
“Have you heard the latest joke making the rounds?” he asked, pulling out his mobile phone and reading the joke being sent around as a text message. He read it:
“A man catches a fish. His wife says, ‘I can’t cook it. There’s no gas, no electricity, no flour and no cooking oil.’ So the man puts the fish back in the river. The fish leaps out of the water and shouts: Long Live Musharraf!”
I searched for other humor, and found this:
“Musharraf agreed to allow Scotland Yard to investigate the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. Why not the CIA? It would have tortured the witnesses, burned the tapes and concluded that Benazir Bhutto fired first.”

I do hope that you do not take the chances that Daniel Pearl took.... in the land of Jinnah.
We need you back in China, where at least, the streets are safe (from most kinds of bandits), just the air, water, food, etc. are not.

i dont agree with the statement that Musharraf is unpopular in Pakistan. he may be, but infront of those who wants pakistan to be ruled in accordance with their self-made laws. (extremist and most of them un-islamic). Musharraf have done good strategic planning in tackling with the terrorist, the most important thing that should have been done earlier. as the operation is going on, certainly there is a price that pakistanis have to pay like. fear of blasts, killings etc. because this is tactic which is common with the running and wounded enemy and in order to disturb the peace..... as far as food is concerned so there was a shortage of flour but was dealt timely by the government. The news that nothing is available is the havoc that was created by the opposition parties.
