Clinton edges close in NC; Impact of Wright still apparent
Poll update: Hillary Clinton's within single digits of Barack Obama in North Carolina and the two remain in a virtual tie in Indiana. And the controversial comments of Rev. Jeremiah Wright continue to impact the race in both states.
The latest Zogby tracking poll found 11 percent of Obama supporters in Indiana and 13 percent of those in North Carolina said they were less likely to support him because of Wright.
And, the poll found, "19 percent who said they were less likely to support Obama because of Wright's comments said they have changed their votes in the last two weeks. In Indiana, 24 pecent who said they were less likely to support Obama because of Wright's comments have changed their minds in the last two weeks."
Zogby, which conducts polls daily, found Clinton making gains in North Carolina Friday. Obama is still up by 9 percentage points there, but 17 percent are unsure or want someone else. In Indiana, Obama leads by 1.
Another recent poll, by Insider Advantage/Majority Opinion Research, put Clinton up by 7 in Indiana. That survey had Obama ahead by less than 5 in North Carolina.
