GOP blasts Obama on taxes, again

Once again, Republicans are taking aim at Barack Obama's tax policies.

Last week, the Republican National Committee blasted Obama in a video for his support of a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Monday, it released a new video, called "Obama's Ill-Timed Tax Increases," that dealt with broader issues.

"After just three years in the U.S. Senate, Barack Obama is demonstrating his poor grasp of basic economic principles by proposing massive tax increases on Americans and small businesses as they face economic challenges," the RNC said in a statement.

“Does Barack Obama understand our economy? Then why would he raise taxes at the worst possible time?” the video asks.

Obama wants to end the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans, but provides substantial tax breaks for middle and lower class taxpayers. He also proposes closing corporate loopholes and increasing taxes on dividends and capital gains for the wealthy.

It would really be nice if the GOP would explain exactly what plans they want to cut so that we can reduce taxes and reduce our debt. I'm all for both, but as long as the GOP refuses to do either one, I have to go with the more taxes side so that my dollar might be worth a little bit in the next few years.
