McCain to DNC attendees: go Roman

John McCain's presidential campaign issued a press release Wednesday suggesting what people should wear to Barack Obama's acceptance speech Thursday at Denver's massive Invesco Field at Mile High football stadium: togas.

"Today, workers at Invesco Field are putting the final touches on the newest wonder of the modern political world - The Temple of Obama ("The Barackopolis")," the McCain release said, sticking to the campaign's strategy of trying to label Obama as elitist or "The One." "It is upon this pulpit that Barack Obama will tomorrow night adress thousands of screaming, adoring fans."

Togas are recommended for male movie stars and politicians alike.  The outfit's base is a white fabric which must be wrapped around the body with perfect technique, outlined by the McCain campaign.  The very fashionable overcoat toga is recommended for the most regal of the attendees .   The more common man will be comfortable in the traditional toga.  As for the women, McCain suggests "the dress" as appropriate attire for the entrance into Obama's temple.

Obama campaign officials quickly denounced the McCain release and noted that President Bush accepted his 2004 nomination standing near neoclassical Greek columns.

"Republicans who are mocking Obama's appearance haven't mentioned it, but George W. Bush accepted his own nomination in 2004 on a set with a similar neoclassical theme, with columns rising on either side of him," the Obama release said.

McCain is going too low, sacrificing his age, dignity, and respect by childishly mocking Obama just so he can be president. How very desperate. He lost it to Bush and he is bound to lose it to Obama at the rate he is going. He no longer talks of what he intends to do to the country. He reminds me of sour grapes that we talk about all the time the time. I have never heard him talk about world problems only mocking Obama like it is a child's play. Wake up McCain you are out of touch with the modern world

I disagree, jane, instead McCain is simply showing his sense of sharp humor. Obama is ridiculously arrogant, Michelle ridiculously angry, and McCain is taking the super easy oppty to point out the stupidity.

The Obama backdrop is nothing more than a representation of the Denver Civic Center, evocative of the community and democratic spirit imbuing the party's collective charge and spirit.

McCain, by contrast, will be on a stark representation of a pyramid, evocative of the money-chasing and pharoaic pursuits imbuing the party's yadda yadda

McCain shows his increasing age, lack of dignity and loss of respect.

tarzan, your belief that McCain has a 'sharp(?)' sense of humor suggests you're too young to vote. There's nothing witty about calling someone 'arrogant,' 'angry' or 'stupid.'
