Obama goes on vacation, and Republicans follow

Looks like Barack Obama can't go on vacation without Republicans finding a way to make a political point.

Obama and his family plan to begin a week-long stay in Hawaii Friday. But as he does, GOP spokesman Alex Conant issued this statement:

“In addition to plenty of beaches and sun, Barack Obama will see some of the highest gas prices in the country when he vacations in Hawaii. Obama deserves a break from the campaign trail, just like Americans deserve a break from high gas prices. Obama’s opposition to offshore drilling will only make it harder for Americans to afford their own family vacations.”

Obama's not opposed to offshore drilling; he's willing to accept limited drilling as part of a comprehensive energy package.

maybe mccain should jet off in his wifes plane and chill out himself we are really tired of his negative ads and his forced smile he seems too fishy like a rerun of the same old politics we had

This is typical of McCain and his GOP. It's tired, petty and a stretch.

If one of McCain's main lines is that there's more coverage of Obama than McCain, shouldn't they be happy he's going away for a few days?

It's silly, too. Listen to what they said, "Americans deserve a break from high gas prices." Of course we deserve a break, so?

Then, "Obama’s opposition to offshore drilling will only make it harder for Americans to afford their own family vacations." His opposition isn't making it harder, gas prices are.

Obama's not president yet, and he has a platform on ways to lower prices and create more energy.

Ivanv you are so right and I would not be surprised if the republicans don't have a little spy watchin him while he is on vacation.McCains videos are really getting old.Paris Hiltons video now that was funny and how the McCain campaign could say she showed support for him is beyond me .Sh made fun of the man and said both men had good ideas.

jojobo1,

Concerning the video reaction, McCain shows how out of touch he is by not knowing her 'wrinkly, white-haired guy' is the butt of a joke.

McCain knows he was the brunt of Paris's joke. He's just pretending it's funny. She handed him his butt. LOL!

Gloria5,

That's a good take. The best McCain can do when he was beat by PHilton is laugh with everyone else.

That's a good sense of humor.
