U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., today compared Barack Obama to Jesus and apparently likened Alaska Gov.Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate.
"If you want change, you want the Democratic Party," he said on the House floor. "Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister just prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor."
The remark drew a strong rebuke from Republicans.
"The Democrats have lost their minds, and all sense of moral decency," said Karen Hanretty, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, the campaign group for House Republicans.
"Congressman Cohen is free to harbor feelings of anger and resentment toward Sarah Palin, who may become the first woman vice president of the United States. But the offensive analogy he made today should not be tolerated in the People's House. Pontius Pilate sentenced Christ to death on the cross. So, exactly what point was Cohen trying to make?"
The National Republican Congressional Committee? That explains the smell of sulphur.

That pretty much sums it up, but people will STILL be deceived by the Repugs and vote for them anyway, Thank You Mr. Cohen for saying that so eloquently!

This guy is an IDIOT!
In watching the interview of Governor Sarah Palin, conducted by Charles Gibson of ABC News it became quite evident going in that Charles Gibson is disingenuous, and sexist. Can you name anyone that has ever ask Barack Obama if he felt qualified to be President of the United States, or for that matter can you name anyone that ran in the 2008 Presidential race that was asked that question? Governor Palin is the only one in the race with governmental executive experience at any level.
Can anyone tell me why it is important to have met a foreign head of state prior to becoming VP. She has negotiated with Big Oil, Liberal, and Conservative politicians and interacted with Governors from across these United States. She has made decisions that affect everyone living in Alaska, and she has been doing that for almost two years. With an 80% approval rating from the Alaskan populace I would venture to say that she must be doing something right.
Can anyone tell me why the Obama camp seems to be running against Governor Palin since McCain named her as his running mate? Shouldn’t the race be between Obama, and McCain? Has anyone asked Joe Biden if he felt qualified to be president? Maybe someone should ask Biden, “what’s changed,” since he said; “Obama was not qualified to be president,” and now… Can anyone name the qualifying event that took place between time Biden uttered those words, and now?
There is a place for community organizers, but that place is not necessarily the White House. How does that experience outweigh Governor Palin’s experience and why does the Obama camp want to run a campaign against the number two spot on the McCain ticket.
How will anyone that allows themselves to get this worked up over McCain’s VP pick deal with foreign heads of state? The Democratic Party seems to have forgotten that the real opponent is John McCain… Not… Sarah Palin.

When the legislator said that Christ was a "community organizer" he was right. Christ went about doin' good. Healing the sick, raising the dead (many are walking dead in black community) feeding the hungry, and advocating for the poor, women, and children. These are the same things Barack Obama did as a Community Organizer. These are the same things the repubs disparaged, denigrated, ridiculed, laughed at, and castigated Obama for doing as a community organizer at their convention. Keynote speaker, after keynote speaker, belitted Obama as a community organizer. I was very offended, outraged, and saddened by their flippant dismissal and mocking of Obama. Just like Pilot, the Scribes, and the Pharasees ridculed Jesus for his teachings and work on behalf of the community and the disadvantaged. Everyone hailed it as a great speech, and applauded, just like they did when Jesus was scourged, beaten, and crucified. Every time someone tries to stand up for the little people, like the Kennedys, King, and others, they are shot down literally and figuratively.

But Christ was not defeated. He rose from the dead, faught the devil to a stand-still. Declared, "all power in heaven and in earth is in my hand". Went back to glory and is seated on the right hand of the Father. Just like Barack Obama will come back from the dead in his race for the presidency. He will rise to glory and be seated in the oval office where he will organize the American community and bring it to "a more perfect union" which his founding fathers advocated.

This is unbelievable, is this what America has come to? No one, and I mean NO one, should be compared to Christ. Christ was perfect. This is blasphemy. Do you think God isn't watching? Oh my, don't you know you will have to answer to this some day?
