Isn't Europe a country?
As an American (more correctly, as a U.S. citizen) living overseas, I spend a good amount of time trying to persuade people that my country isn't filled with ignorant people who have no idea what goes on beyond the U.S. borders.
But people like former American Idol competitor Kellie Pickler really aren't helping things much with appearances like this on "Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?" (I was doubtful too, but this is apparently real...)

In defense ... ok, I got nothing.
I'm sure you've seen this one, right?

Had seen it a while back, but blocked it from my memory. I agree with her 100 percent that Americans need maps! She is very insightful...

Here's Dana Perino, the Press Secretary for the president of the USA on a US Game show:
MS. PERINO: I had a situation the other day when they said President
Putin thought that our missile defense program was like the Cuban
Missile Crisis, and so I got asked about the Cuban Missile Crisis, and I
was - panicked a bit because I really know about nothing - (chuckles) - about the Cuban Missile Crisis.
It had to do with Cuba and missile, I'm pretty sure.
MR. SAGAL: Yeah, it had to do - it did in fact have to do with Cuba and missiles, Dana.
MS. PERINO: Yeah, so I'll have to get back to you on that.
MR. SAGAL: Really? Like, "I have to go Google this..."
MS. PERINO: Well, I came home and I asked my husband -
MR. SAGAL: Yeah?
MS. PERINO: I said, wasn't that like the Bay of Pigs thing?
MR. SAGAL: (Gasps.)
MS. PERINO: And he said, "Oh, Dana."
