They have provided some of the more dramatic photos of the nighttime Israeli attacks on Gaza: Shells that burst above Gaza City and send bright smoky tentacles out over the neighborhoods.
The shells not only provide dramatic photos, they also appear to contain controversial white phosphorus, which is banned from use as a weapon against civilians.
Sheera Frenkel at The Times of London first reported on their use earlier this week in a report that drew vehement denials from the Israeli military.
The Israeli military categorically rejected the newspaper's finding that its forces were using white phosphorus, even though it is legal to use as a smokescreen or for illumination, which is what Israel appears to be trying to do.
But then Sheera uncovered photographic evidence showing an Israeli soldier along the Gaza border who is looking at a U.S.-made white phosphorus shell.
Despite the clear markings that The Times said ID the shell as containing white phosphorus, the Israeli military argued that Israel had changed the contents and that it was an "empty shell."
“This is what we call a quiet shell - it is empty, it has no explosives and no white phosphorus," an Israeli military spokeswoman told The Times. "There is nothing inside it. We shoot it to mark the target before we launch a real shell. We launch two or three of the quiet shells which are empty so that the real shells will be accurate. It's not for killing people,”
The Times has spoken with doctors in Gaza who have treated patients with severe burns caused by Israeli attacks and some human rights groups are concerned that the shells exploding so low over cities and towns will increase the danger to civilians.

Jews are not human and they deserve the Hitler treatment...Holocaust was a drama at that time.. but we all want a real holocaust this time.. what happen to the world ??? where is justice? why don't they understand what triggered the violence, israelis blocked the basic suplies of food , medicines etc to the palestanians , how can one survive in such a big jail?????? if hamas attacked its for the same reason how much one can take why dont the world see this??? secondly their attack didnt kill anyone at first atleast israelis would have done that like scaring them instead of killing innocent people...hamas took care of the basic needs of palestanians so leave them alone and all they were asking was to open the borders, the figting would not have been happen..
