Freedom House has published an interesting analysis of Chavez's rule. It takes up 15 pages within this larger report.

The conclusions will probably not be welcomed within the Bolivarian Republic.

I have been traveling to Venezuela for the past 16 years...my wife is Venezuelan also. We have watched with horror the loss of freedom, the incredible levels of crime, the corruption, malfeasance, and thuggery that has characterized the Chavez regime. Her family there lives in a constant state of fear. It is incredible to me that there are Americans so naive, ignorant or stupid that they can actually voice approval of this tinpot dictator and his cohorts. We sincerely hope his rule will not last much longer, and he will go the way of Mussolini and others of that ilk.
