Peake passes Senate committee on way to becoming head of VA

General James Peake's nomination to become the head of the VA has passed through the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee on its way to the full Senate, and then to be signed by President Bush.

Town votes to refund some taxes

In Hillsboro, NJ, the township has voted a resolution to give permanently disabled veterans a reinbursement on the 'municiple portion of their property taxes.'  [Courier-News (N.J.)]

Funding causes closing of two clinics in Wisc.

Two clinics that opened to great acclaim closed over funding problems. The company blamed lack of funds from the Veterans Administration; the V.A. says it was going to close their contract in six months. No winners here esp. for the veterans. [Minnesota Public Radio]
