Houston sees an oncoming flood of veterans

Houston Texas is making plans for helping a flood of new veterans and their needs. It's said that 'one in 11 soldiers who are wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan is a Texan. And 25 percent of the state population is from the Houston-Galveston area' so the government is making arrangements. [Houston Chronicle]

Female veterans face numerous problems

Women veterans face a hard road since few existing studies center on women in the military. Issues they deal with include PTSD and sexual harassment. 'The VA diagnosed 60,000 veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder. Of those, 22 percent of women suffered from "military sexual trauma," which includes sexual harassment or assault, compared with 1 percent of men.' [CNN.com]
